Engine Build - Gen V LT 5.3L L83 Supercharged
Project Overview
This 5.3L L83 build was developed for KTR’s own 2014 Sierra shop truck, originally manual swapped and now ready for boosted power. The goal was to strengthen the foundation before adding a Magnuson 2650 supercharger package. The engine was stripped down to the block, machined by Golen Engine, and rebuilt in-house with forged internals and upgraded valvetrain components for long-term reliability under boost.

Build Details
Short Block: The factory 5.3L L83 aluminum block was fully prepped and machined by Golen Engine. It retains the stock crank and now features CompStar forged rods, Wiseco forged pistons, and ARP fasteners throughout the rotating assembly for added strength.
Heads & Valvetrain: The stock L83 cylinder heads were rebuilt by Golen and paired with a BTR L83 PDS Stage 1 camshaft. The valvetrain was upgraded with a BTR trunnion kit, BTR hardened pushrods, and GM LS7 lifters to ensure durability and stability under boost.
Induction & Fuel System: Boost is handled by a Magnuson 2650 supercharger package designed for the L83 platform. An LT4 high-pressure fuel pump and injectors were added to meet the airflow and fueling demands of the new forced-induction setup.
Assembly & Installation: KTR assembled the engine in-house using all premium components and precise tolerances. Once complete, the engine was reinstalled into the 2014 Sierra shop truck and calibrated for the Magnuson system.
