1999 Shelby Series 1

Car

Project Overview

You don’t see one of these every day. This is one of just 249 Shelby Series 1s ever built by Carroll Shelby—a truly rare piece of performance history. When it arrived at KTR, it had only 500 miles on the odometer but was in dire need of restoration after a catastrophic engine failure and years of exposure to the elements.

Engine & Interior Restoration

This Shelby came in with water damage inside and a seized Oldsmobile 4.0L “Baby Northstar” engine that couldn’t be saved. After disassembly and inspection, the block was confirmed beyond repair. Through our network, we connected with Wingard Motorsports, the company that purchased the original Shelby Series 1 assembly line, and sourced a brand-new crate engine along with OEM interior carpets—all original parts from the line.

Once the parts arrived, we carefully rebuilt the car to factory specification, installing the new engine, replacing the interior materials, and bringing the entire vehicle back to its original glory. For a car this rare, every detail mattered, and the first road test after completion was nothing short of a privilege.
